Overview

Adam-U is PNDbotics' upper-body humanoid: a torso, head, and two dexterous arms on a height-adjustable wheeled base. It is built as a teleoperation and motion-capture platform that records human demonstration data to train imitation-learning and reinforcement-learning policies. Aimed at robotics labs and developers, it pairs 31 force-controlled QDD joints with onboard AI compute.

Capabilities

  • 31 Quasi-Direct-Drive (QDD) flexible force-controlled joints for compliant, precise manipulation
  • Two PND dexterous five-finger hands with 6 DOF each for fine grasping and teleoperation
  • Purpose-built data-collection rig: captures synchronized motion, force, and visual data for imitation learning and DRL
  • Dual onboard compute, Intel NUC12 (i7) for real-time control plus NVIDIA Jetson Orin NX 16GB for AI inference
  • Height-adjustable column (1.35-1.77 m) on a wheeled base for desktop-to-floor task setups
